The Wolf and the Lion – AESOP’S FABLES (the strong prevail – what is evil won is evil lost)

A rubber wolf, Who killed a sheep,

Was tugging at his prey,

When came a lion with a leap,

And snatched the prize away.

 

“Rogue!” snarled the wolf. “You have no right

To steal my property!”

But, stalking in his kingly might,

The lion laughed in glee.

 


“Now by what law, in your belief,

Does loot belong to you?

What’s fair for wolves, my fellow thief,

Is fair for lions too!”
